I will present on Stew and Heidi Rodewald’s musical Passing Strange and Paul Beatty’s novel Slumberland at the American Studies seminar at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany.

August 2009

It looks like I’ll be at Boston University the last weekend in August for a conference on the work of Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick. I’ll be discussing her work on the epistemology of the closet in relation to R. Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet.

June 2009

I’ll present my work on Kalup Linzy at Performance Studies International in Zagreb, Croatia, Saturday June 27th.

May 2009

The weekend of May 8th through the 10th I’ll be at the biannual Black Performance Theory conference, held this year at Yale University.

Friday, May 15th, I’m taking part in a panel discussion at the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at the City University of New York on queer music.

April 2009

Thursday, April 16th, I’ll be giving a talk on the sound of revolutionary black cinema at the Department of Ethnic Studies at University of California, Riverside.

April 17th through 19th I’ll be at the Experience Music Pop Conference in Seattle, where I’m giving my paper on Kalup Linzy.

Thursday, April 23rd, at 6:30 PM, I’m giving a lecture in conjunction with the Kehinde Wiley exhibit at Artpace, San Antonio, Texas.

March 2009

From the 4th to the 6th, I’ll be at the Rethinking Sex: Gender and Sexuality Studies State of the Field conference at the University of Pennsylvania where, among other things, I’ll be doing a public interview with Matmos.

Wednesday, March 18th, at 7 PM, I’ll be giving a talk about Kalup Linzy‘s work at the BYO series at the Department of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard.
